The second book of Samuel picks up from the end of 1 Samuel, and David is appointed King over Israel. He served the Lord faithfully, but eventually becomes his own undoing after sleeping with Bathsheba and killing her husband Uriah. She bears him a son, Solomon, which carries on in the Book of Kings.
