The book of Isaiah is one of the five major prophetic books in the Bible and was written between the 8th and 7th century B.C. It is written for the nation of Israel but looks forward to the coming of a Messiah, a saviour that would be a suffering servant. Most notable is Chapter 53, which some call the fifth gospel.
