Who was Titus in the Bible?

In the New Testament there is a letter titled "Titus". It was written by the Apostle Paul to a man named Titus. Paul describes Titus his 'true child in a common faith', which helps us to understand that Titus was very dear to the apostle.


We know very little about Titus, but what we know is that he was formerly a Gentile (Galatians 2:3), he accompanied Paul to the council of Jerusalem (Acts 15:2, Galatians 2:1), he was used continuously in Paul's ministry (2 Corinthians 8:23), and possessed an earnest love for Christians (2 Corinthians 8:16-17).


In Paul's letter to Titus, he writes to reinforce what they had already discussed (Titus 1:5). Specifically, Titus was sent to find leaders in Crete and to teach the people. In this regard, the contents of Titus are very similar to the contents of 1 Timothy which is often used as cross-reference.

Verses That Mention Titus
